You can travel city blocks in some parts of Pittsburgh, and never come across an abandoned building. You can travel city blocks in some parts of Pittsburgh, and count more abandoned buildings than anything else. I started photographing them years ago as if no one else saw them. I understand we choose to see what we want to see, and choose to ignore what we would rather not see. I do not understand why nothing is done about them. They remain vacant as property values decline, and then at some point are sold for cheap. I've been told it's the process, but why does the process not benefit those in the neighborhoods?
